Cannon Group Achieves Global WAN Savings for Kelly Services
Cannon Group’s relationship with Kelly Services began in 2010 with a series of telecom negotiations for their US-based operations.
Objectives included managing the overall negotiation process via a highly competitive RFP process, identifying potential savings from a critical voice and data migration, resolving a commitment shortfall, and reducing overall telecom expenses by negotiating best-in-class pricing and terms. Cannon Group impressed Kelly Services by achieving these goals while also providing more than $500K in annual savings.
The success of this initial project convinced Kelly to engage Cannon Group in other aspects of their telecom environment, including Unified Communications and, most recently, a global WAN RFP.
Global WAN Telecom RFP Project (2012)
The main challenge was to create a strategy and sourcing plan for Kelly Services to obtain world-class pricing, terms and conditions while changing their primary WAN carrier. To achieve this, Cannon Group organized the negotiation process into a series of milestones such as the creation of baseline spend and contract reviews. To enhance leverage, the RFP included all US voice and data spend as well as EMEA WAN spend. In addition, the deal was structured to eventually allow for growth.
Working with Kelly Services, Cannon Group participated in a week-long “pre-negotiations summit” to discuss client requirements, finalize leverage tactics, establish project dates, and create the RFP. This summit concept worked so well, saving so much time that Cannon Group has now incorporated it into its sourcing practice guidelines. And as a result, Cannon Group provided Kelly Services with deliverables such as weekly updates, side-by-side offer summaries and carrier migration plans.
Thanks to Cannon Group’s efforts, Kelly Services now enjoys big savings in total WAN service costs, with annual savings of more than $500K on their overall in-scope WAN solution. In addition, Kelly Services received annual savings of $85K on voice services, equipment upgrades, and significant savings on MACDs during the contract term.
Entering 2013, Cannon Group has completed a total of three projects for Kelly Services. Based on the benefits that Kelly Services has received from Cannon Group’s services over the past three years, the future looks bright for a long and continued strong partnership.
