Gartner’s Magic Quadrant for Unified Communications vendors is here, and it paints a promising picture for UCaaS (Unified Communications as a Service) moving forward.

To be specific, Gartner describes UCaaS as “now a viable alternative for many enterprise deployments.”*

Although UCaaS is still a relatively new market, it’s maturing quickly with vendor consolidation and increased competition forcing weaker vendors out—while pushing strong UCaaS vendors to the top. And with these newer, better services come enhanced capabilities such as:*

  • expanded global capacity
  • better customer service
  • improved project management services
  • an expanded set of APIs
  • the ability to deploy a richer set of UC functionality led by mobility and video

Gartner’s list includes UC vendors with “enterprise solutions for web and video conferencing, telephony, IM and presence, messaging, contact center, unified communication as-a-service (UCaaS) and interoperability capabilities, and that have clients for multiple environments. Vendors also need to have UC offers in multiple global market regions.”†
